Recently I had the worst painting block I’ve had in a long time. Unfortunately when your creativity gets locked up the best thing to do is keep creating and eventually you can make it to the other side. My block had to do with my dog Annie. Annie was elderly when I got her and after three years she had started to go down hill. When I realized I was carrying her down the stairs to get her in the yard and even that was not working, my summer started shaping up to something quite difficult. So in June I took her to the vet and unlucky for both Annie and myself I had a temporary fill in vet. It was sad enought to put her to sleep but it didn’t go well. I came home and planted roses and started this rug shortly after. Usually when I start a large rug I have a sketch and I tend to follow my idea to completion but this time I got diverted and my design became a train wreck. I tried for a week to get through my block and finally decided to paint over the border. So today I am thrilled to have finished this painting and I love it. Just in case you missed it, Annie’s tail is right there in the middle of the flower patch. I know she is chasing rabbits with better legs and a younger spirit!
